Box Score COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican men's soccer team scored its second consecutive GLIAC victory, defeating Malone on Senior Day at Panther Stadium, 1-0.
In his final home match of his career, senior Justin Alexander (Reynoldsburg, OH) recorded his sixth career shutout, moving into a tie for fifth all-time in school history. Alexander denied all four shots on goal turned in by Malone (3-11-1, 3-9-1 GLIAC) for the match.
Junior Tanner Ebright (Pickerington, OH) tallied the lone goal of the match, logging his first score of the year, as he blasted a shot past the Pioneer goalkeeper after receiving a pass from classmate Shane Facemyer (Sunbury, OH). The goal gave ODU (2-11-12, 2-10-1 GLIAC) a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute.
The remainder of the opening half saw the score stay at 1-0. After the intermission, the Panthers took the first three shots, prior to Malone taking five of the final seven attempts in the match.
Malone threatened late with a header attempt in the final 90 seconds, but Alexander would make the save, preserving the win for the ODU.
Senior Caleb Wilson (Reynoldsburg, OH) made his 63 career appearance, most of any current player for the Panthers, as he assisted in the shutout victory, making his final home start of his career.
ODU outshot the Pioneers 12-9 in the match, while also holding a 6-4 advantage in shots on goal. Facemyer logged a team high three shots, with just one coming on target. Ebright, along with junior Michael Fragoulis (Chios, Greece) and freshman Ryan Kasprzak (Hilliard, OH) each recorded two shots in the match.
The Panthers will head to Cedarville for an 8 p.m. kickoff on Tuesday, October 27, for a non-conference match.
