Box Score COLUMBUS, Ohio – A 17-point first half lead slipped away as Ohio Dominican's women's basketball team fell 70-57 to visiting Findlay Thursday night in GLIAC play in Alumni Hall.
ODU (4-11, 1-8 GLIAC) was outscored 40-22 in the second half as the Panthers managed just nine points in the final 14 minutes of the game.
Senior guard Kacee Hockenberry (Haviland, Ohio) scored all 14 of her points in the first half. Sophomore forward Madi Rittinger (Dayton, Ohio) stuffed the stat sheet with 10 points, seven rebounds, a career-high four steals and three blocks, while sophomore guard Lauren Bates (Hilliard, Ohio) had eight points and nine rebounds.
But ODU committed 28 turnovers – 17 in the second half – and the Oilers shot 52.0 percent from the field and 14-of-17 from the free throw line in the final 20 minutes to improve to 8-5 (4-5 GLIAC).
ODU led the entire first half and went up 35-18 with 2:36 to play in the half after a 14-0 run.
The Oilers trimmed the deficit to 11 at half (37-26), but ODU was still up 48-39 with 14:17 to play. ODU stayed in front 54-47 with 7:41 to play after a Rittinger layup, but the Oilers went on a 22-0 run over the next seven minutes to take control of the game.
Ohio Dominican hits the road for a 1 p.m. game Saturday at Wayne State.
