Box Score COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Ohio Dominican volleyball team suffered its second home blemish of the season with a 3-0 (25-14, 25-17, 25-21) setback to No. 14 Ferris State in a GLIAC match.
With the loss, the Panthers fell to 6-7 (4-3 GLIAC), while the Bulldogs improved to 8-3 (6-1 GLIAC).
Overall, ODU could not hold any attacking advantages as Ferris State had 12 more kills than the Panthers, 44-32, while the Panthers had 20 errors to the Bulldogs 10. As a team the Bulldogs hit .318, while the Panthers hit .111.
Senior Lauren Kraemer (Kettering, OH) led the Panthers with 12 kills in 25 attempts. Kraemer also recorded a team high three blocks. Sophomore Jackie Oestreich (Birghton, MI) added eight kills. Junior Kelsey Fourtney (Lorain, OH) led the team with 12 assists, and charted eight digs as well.
Ferris State used an 8-3 run in the first set to take control. ODU was able to pull within four after a kill from Kraemer made the score 13-9, but that would be as close as the Panthers could get in the set.
The second set was tight at the start with ODU taking a 13-12 lead halfway through on another kill from Kraemer. The Bulldogs then closed the set on a 13-4 run.
In the third and final set, ODU was down by as many as seven before closing the Bulldog lead to 24-21 on a service error.
The Panthers will be back in action on Friday at 7:00 p.m. as they host Northwood for another GLIAC matchup in Alumni Hall.
