Box Score COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican volleyball team stayed unbeaten in conference play after defeating Walsh 3-0 (25-9, 25-22, 25-14).
The Panther (3-4, 2-0 GLIAC) hit .410 while holding Walsh (0-6, 0-2) to just an .091 in attack percentage.
ODU continued their solid play from the night before, as the attack was balanced. Five Panthers recorded seven or more kills in the match. Sophomore Jackie Oestreich (Brighton, MI) led the team with 13 kills, while freshman Ciara Ralston (Findlay, OH) added nine kills.
Junior Kelsey Fortney (Lorain, OH) and freshman Ashlin Aiken (Onstead, MI) led the Panthers in assist with 19 and 18 respectfully.
In the first set, ODU came out strong as the team led 5-0 after a kill from senior Lauren Rindler (Rossburg, OH). The Cavaliers were able to get it as close as 10-6, but the Panthers finished the set on a 15-3 run to go up 1-0.
The second set saw Walsh jump out to the early lead as they started the set on a 5-2 run. Both team went back and forth exchanging the lead as there were four lead changes before the teams were tied at 13-13. The Black and Gold then used a 7-4 run to grab a 20-17 lead in the set. Walsh was able to tie the set at 21-21, but the Panthers finished the set strong, taking it 25-22.
The third set, much like the first was controlled by the Panthers early. With the score tied 4-4, ODU used an 11-3 run capped off by a kill from senior Brianna Reder (Maineville, OH) for a 15-7 lead. Walsh was able to close the lead to as close as six, but the Panthers finished off the match with a 25-14 set victory.
Overall, the Panthers recorded 48 kills to Walsh's 29.
Ohio Dominican will be back in action at home on Tuesday, September 16 when they welcome Charleston (W.V.) to Columbus for a non-conference match-up. The match is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m. in Alumni Hall.
