Box Score NORTH CANTON, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's volleyball team shook off a sluggish start to roll past Walsh 3-1 (14-25, 25-19, 25-13, 25-17) Friday night in GLIAC play.
With the win, ODU improved to 12-14 (10-7 GLIAC), while the Cavaliers are 2-23 (2-15 GLIAC). With a win Saturday over Malone, the Panthers would clinch their first GLIAC Tournament bid in school history.
After tallying just four kills with nine errors in the first set, the Panthers hit .277 in the final three sets to pull away with the victory.
Sophomore Jackie Oestreich (Brighton, Mich.) tallied 16 kills while hitting .316 and senior Lauren Kraemer (Kettering, Ohio) chipped in with nine kills. Freshman Ashlin Aiken (Onsted, Mich.) and junior Kelsey Snyder (Macomb, Mich.) combined for 33 assists and sophomore Megan Hendershot (Galloway, Ohio) led ODU with 18 digs.
The Panthers raced out to 12-5 leads in both the second and third sets and cruised from there. In the third set, ODU used a 4-1 run to grab a 17-11 lead, and Oestreich's kill closed the victory for the Panthers.
ODU and Malone square off at 2 p.m. tomorrow in Canton.
