Box Score 2 AURORA, Ill. – Ohio Dominican's volleyball team wrapped up play at the 2014 GLIAC/GLVC Crossover Tournament with a 3-1 loss to Truman State and a 3-2 setback to Missouri-St. Louis on Saturday.
The Panthers slipped below .500 on the season with the losses (9-11). Truman State, the top team in the GLVC, is now 18-2 on the year, while UMSL is 12-10.
Against TSU, the Panthers hit .080 in the match. Junior Tory Thompson (Quincy, Ohio) had nine kills and sophomore Jackie Oestreich (Brighton, Mich.) added eight, while junior Kelsey Snyder (Macomb, Mich.) led ODU with 19 assists.
The Panthers fell by scores of 11-25 and 13-25 in the first two frames before bouncing back with a 25-22 win in the third set. The Bulldogs took the fourth set by a margin of 25-19 to take the win.
Against the Tritons, the Panthers won the first set by a 25-21 count. ODU fell 25-14 and 25-13 in the middle sets before bouncing back with a 25-15 win in the fourth. However, the Panthers couldn't complete the comeback in the fifth set, falling by a 15-13 score.
Five players had nine or more kills against UMSL. Senior Caitlin Kusan (Westerville, Ohio) had 12, while senior Lauren Kraemer (Kettering, Ohio), Thompson and freshman Ciara Ralston (Findlay, Ohio) each had 11. Oestreich chipped in with nine.
Snyder and freshman Ashlin Aiken each had 23 assists, and Thompson had 24 digs to pace the defense.
The Panthers play host to Hillsdale at 7 p.m. Friday in Alumni Hall.
