Panthers Suffer 2-1 Setback to Northwood

Box Score

MIDLAND, Mich. – Even though the Ohio Dominican men's soccer team held an 11-10 advantage in shots, the Panthers could not overcome a one goal deficit and fell to Northwood by the score of 2-1 on Friday afternoon.

The Panthers are now 3-2-1 (2-2 GLIAC) while the Timberwolves improved to 3-3 (3-2).

The Timberwolves jumped on the board first, scoring within the first two minutes of the game when Adam Thomas found the feet of Gino Pasquali who beat the keeper to score from 18 yards out.

Senior Duncan Campbell (Hilliard, Ohio) knotted the score 1-1 in the 85th minute after he headed the ball home from sophomore Brent Wahle (Pataskala, Ohio) into the back of the net.

However, just 20 seconds later, the Timberwolves took the lead after Pasquali beat the keeper once again after a scramble, connecting with the lower left side of the net.

ODU's defense managed to hang on but the offense couldn't overcome the one goal deficit, and the Panthers fell by the final margin of 2-1.

The Panthers will continue conference play with Saginaw Valley on Sunday, Sept. 29 for a 2:30 p.m. match.
