NOTRE DAME, Ind. – For the second
straight year, the Ohio Dominican cross country teams had a strong
showing at the 34th National Catholic Cross Country Invitational,
hosted by Notre Dame. The men placed 12th of the 22 non Division I
teams while the women finished 17th of the 26 teams in the
field.
Thirty-eight Catholic universities and colleges competed in the
three races, with 27 schools hailing from the Division II, Division
III or NAIA ranks.
Junior Tara Walker (Lewis Center,
Ohio) sparkled for the Panthers. Walker finished
65th out of the 207 runners with a time of 20:13.0.
Also finishing strong for ODU was junior Erin Miller
(London, Ohio), who clocked in with a time of 21:12.6, as
well as senior Michelle McKean (Pataskala, Ohio)
in 21:15.2. Sophomore Amber Willeman (Napoleon,
Ohio) in 21:45.5, and junior Rachel Collins
(Dayton, Ohio) in at 21:57.8 also ran well for the
Panthers.
On the men's side, junior Mike Barber (New Franklin,
Ohio) continued his 2013 success with a time of
27:25.9, while junior Ethan Miller
(Monclova, Ohio) came in at 28:20.1. Freshman Patrick
Ferguson (Austintown, Ohio) and sophomore Brendan
Walburn (Hebron, Ohio) crossed the finish lines with
times of 28:24.2 and 28:51.4 respectively.
The Panthers will get a break, as their next race will not be
until Oct. 4, at the Cedarville All-Ohio Championships.
