Box Score UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – Ohio Dominican's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (17-25, 21-25, 20-25) on the road at Saginaw Valley in GLIAC play on Friday night.
With the setback, ODU fell to 7-10 (2-6 GLIAC), while the Cardinals improved to 9-7 (4-4 GLIAC).
Sophomore Lauren Kraemer (Kettering, Ohio) led the Panthers with seven kills, while freshman Taylor Foster (Ida, Mich.) chipped in with five. ODU hit .083 in the match, compared to .248 for host Saginaw.
The Panthers got out to a quick start in the first set, going in front 6-1, before Saginaw answered with a 12-3 run. ODU would tie it at 14 after a Cardinal hitting error, but SVSU scored five straight points to pull away for the win.
The second set had a similar feel as again ODU would be knotted at 14, but again the Cardinals came up with the game-changing run, this time scoring six straight points to take control.
The Panthers hung around late in the third, drawing within 21-20 as Kraemer and junior Brianna Reder (Maineville, Ohio) teamed up on a block, but the Cardinals closed the match with four straight points.
ODU remains on the road for a 1 p.m. matchup at Lake Superior on Saturday.
