Box Score COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's volleyball team couldn't generate anything on the offensive end in falling 3-0 (17-25, 20-25, 15-25) to visiting Grand Valley Friday night in GLIAC play at Alumni Hall.
With the setback, ODU fell below .500 on the season as the Panthers dropped to 6-7 (2-4 GLIAC), while the Lakers moved to 10-4 (3-3 GLIAC).
The Panthers hit just .048 in the match, converting just 26 kills to 21 attack errors, and also committed eight service errors and eight receiving errors as well.
Freshman Kelsey Barker (Muncie, Ind.) led ODU with seven kills, while sophomore Caitlin Kusan (Westerville, Ohio) tallied six kills and five blocks. Freshman Darby Slavin (Columbus, Ohio) had 15 assists and sophomore Bailey Barker (Muncie, Ind.) registered 13 digs.
ODU battled back from a 5-0 deficit in the first set to tie it at 10 on a kill by freshman Lauren Kraemer (Kettering, Ohio). GVSU answered with a 7-0 burst though and cruised to the eight point win.
The Panthers found themselves down 6-1 in the second set but again fought back, cutting the deficit to 12-11 on Kusan's ace. GVSU came back with a 4-1 mini-surge, and though the Panthers crept back to within 19-17 on a Kelsey Barker kill, the Lakers were able to close the frame with a five-point victory.
Ohio Dominican remains at home at 1 p.m. Saturday as the Panthers square off against Ferris State.
