Box Score COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican men's soccer team showed a strong outing as they prevailed over Bellarmine by the score of 2-1 in its first game of the 2012 season Sunday afternoon at Panther Field.
Senior Casey Weddle (Cincinnati, Ohio) started the Panthers' season in the right direction as he scored the first goal of the game and season at the end of the first half on a penalty kick to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead at the 42:55 mark
Following in Casey's footsteps was sophomore Frazer Fernandes (Gahanna, Ohio), who scored ODU's second goal of the game when he connected on a pass from senior Tyler Huerkamp (Loveland, Ohio) to put the Panthers up 2-0 13:24 into in the second period.
The Knights scored their lone goal on a penalty kick from Cole Page to put them within one at the 76:32 mark of the second period, but ODU was able to hold off several late charges by Bellarmine to secure the victory
The Panthers will travel to Indianapolis on Wednesday, Sept. for a 6 p.m. match against the Greyhounds.
