Box Score CEDARVILLE, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's volleyball team suffered its third straight setback as the Panthers fell 3-0 (16-25, 21-25, 20-25) to host Cedarville in a non-conference match Tuesday night.
With the defeat, ODU dropped to 6-9, while the Yellow Jackets improved to 18-3.
The Panthers hit just .035 in the match, committing 24 errors to 28 kills, while the Yellow Jackets hit .202 with 34 kills.
Freshman Darby Slavin (Columbus, Ohio) had 23 assists and three aces and classmate Tory Thompson (Quincy, Ohio) tallied nine kills and 12 digs.
Cedarville opened the match on a 7-2 run and didn't slow down from there, taking the first set by nine points. The Panthers hung close in the second set and trimmed a 21-15 deficit to 21-19 on an ace by sophomore Caitlin Kusan (Westerville, Ohio) and a kill from Thompson, but CU pulled away with the set victory.
ODU broke open a 4-4 tie in the third set with a 4-0 run and led by as many as nine, 16-7, on a kill by freshman Kelsey Barker (Muncie, Ind.). The Yellow Jackets rallied though to complete the sweep.
Ohio Dominican returns to conference play at 7 p.m. Friday against Saginaw Valley in Alumni Hall.
