Box Score ASHLAND, Ohio – The 15th-ranked Ashland Eagles opened with the first 16 points of the afternoon and never looked back as they handed Ohio Dominican's women's basketball team its seventh straight road loss and 10th overall, 72-50, at Kates Gymnasium.
The Eagles, the lone unbeaten in GLIAC play at 8-0, extended their school-record win streak to 14 straight and improved to 14-1 with the South Division win.
It did not take long for Ashland's offensive firepower to take over as the Eagles, with the nation's fourth-best field-goal percentage (.475) and 15th-best scoring offense (77.8 ppg), connected on eight of their first 14 shots for the 16-0 advantage with 10:30 to go in the half. After starting 0-of-10, ODU finished the half 8-of-17 to cut the halftime deficit to 38-19.
Back-to-back jumpers at the start of the second by senior Meredith Fox (Springboro, OH) and sophomore Katelyn Stuckey (Millersburg, OH) pulled the Panthers within 15, however ODU could not slow the Ashland attack as the Eagles finished the game 30-of-59 (50.8 percent), including 26-of-42 (61.9 percent) from inside the arc.
Fox led the Panthers in scoring for the fourth time this season with 12 points, while classmate Katy Rasor (Grove City, OH) reached double figures for the second straight game and sixth overall with 11 and a game-high three triples.
Ashley Dorner paced three Eagles in double figures with 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting to go along with a game-high 10 rebounds.
ODU (5-10, 1-8 GLIAC) returns to Alumni Hall next week for a two-game home set, beginning with GLIAC foe Northwood (Mich.) at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 19.
