ASHLAND, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's volleyball team couldn't pick up its first conference victory, falling 3-0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-12) to GLIAC South Division foe Ashland Friday night.

The Eagles (7-4, 3-3 GLIAC) hit .336 for the match while limiting the Panthers (2-6, 0-6 GLIAC) to a .107 attack percentage.

"We played really well in the first set and for most of the second set," Sandy Rowley, head coach, said. "We just couldn't hang with them in the third set. They had a lot of momentum coming into tonight after they upset Indianapolis earlier this week and we couldn't carry the momentum from our win over Urbana into the match."

ODU hit .273 in the first set, with 14 kills and just two errors in 44 attempts. Ashley Sprau (Delaware, Ohio; pictured) had eight of her team-high 11 kills in the set, but the Eagles countered with a .326 hitting percentage and 20 kills for the set victory.

The Panthers trailed 12-10 in the second set, but AU went on an 8-3 run to earn some separation and pull away for the 2-0 lead before closing out Ohio Dominican in three.

Rachel Billing (Anna, Ohio) had eight kills, Summer Hale (Galena, Ohio) had 19 assists and Stacy Rogg (Cincinnati, Ohio) had 19 digs to lead ODU.

The Panthers square off against Lake Erie and Wheeling Jesuit tomorrow in a tri-match at Lake Erie. First serve against Lake Erie is set for 2 p.m., followed by a 4 p.m. meeting with Wheeling Jesuit.
