Box Score TIFFIN, Ohio – After posting a goal right out of the gates, the Ohio Dominican men's soccer team withstood a late offensive flurry to hang on for a 1-0 decision at Tiffin late Friday afternoon for the their fourth straight road victory.
Just over three minutes into the game, Andrew Edler (So./Hilliard, OH) flipped a touch pass from the right side to senior defender Liam Fitzgerald (Hudson, OH;pictured) who connected on the open net for his second goal of the year.
The Panthers defense made sure the lead held up, denying several scoring chances from the Dragons late in the second half. Tiffin rattled off 13 shots in the half, but two team saves and four saves from senior keeper Tyler Gleason (Grove City, OH) preserved the 1-0 victory.
Gleason finished with eight saves for the match in his third shutout of the season, lowering his season goals against average to 0.67.
With the victory, ODU improves to 5-1-0 overall and 4-1-0 in GLIAC play, while Tiffin falls to 3-4-0 and 3-3-0 in the conference.
The Panthers will look to remain unbeaten on the road, traveling to the University of Findlay on Sunday for a 3:30 p.m. showdown with the Oilers (1-5-1, 1-3-1 GLIAC). Tiffin steps out of conference play for two games, traveling to Mercyhurst (Pa.) on Sunday before hosting Ohio Valley (W.Va.) on Friday, Oct. 1.
