Box Score INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana – The Ohio Dominican men's soccer team completed a Panthers soccer sweep on Thursday night, defeating the Greyhounds of the University of Indianapolis 2-1 at Key Stadium on UIndy's campus. The ODU women posted a 1-0 victory over the Greyhounds earlier in the evening.
It looked as if the Panthers would have their hands full early as Bobby Adkins connected from 20 yards out, sending the ball into the bottom right corner of the net at the 4:28 mark to give the Greyhounds a quick 1-0 lead. UIndy took the lead into the break as they held ODU to just three shots in the first half.
Just 54 seconds into the second half, Liam Fitzgerald (Sr./Hudson, OH; pictured) collected a loose ball in the box and blasted a shot into the upper center of the net to square the game at 1-1.
ODU continued to apply the pressure and in the 71st minute, freshman Duncan Campbell (Hilliard, OH) finished an Andrew Edler (Hilliard, OH) pass over the keeper for a Panthers 2-1 lead.
Despite being outshot 15-9 for the game, ODU was able to hang on for the come-from-behind road victory.
The Panthers open GLIAC play with a road swing through Michigan next weekend, with games at Northwood University on Friday, Sept. 10 at 4:30 p.m. and Saginaw Valley State University on Sunday, Sept.12 at 2:30 p.m. UIndy begins Great Lakes Valley Conference play on Sept. 5 with a trip to Missouri-St. Louis.
