Two First Half Goals Send Panthers Past Timberwolves

Box Score

MIDLAND, Mich. - After an eight day layoff and lengthy road trip, the Ohio Dominican men's soccer team showed no signs of rust as they defeated Northwood University 2-0 on Friday night in their first game of GLIAC action, improving to 2-0 on the year.

The Panthers got the scoring going early thanks to a Felix Darko (Jr./Reynoldsburg, OH; pictured) goal on an AJ Mueller (Sr./Dublin, OH) assist from just outside the box at the 8:11 mark in the first half.

Northern Illinois transfer Tommy Glenn (So./Pataskala, OH) tallied his first goal for the Black-and-Gold as he connected on a Duncan Campbell (Fr./Hilliard, OH) cross in front of the net in the 31st minute, pushing the ODU lead to two.

Despite just mustering four shots in each half, and being outshot 12-8 for the game, the Panthers strong defensive efforts denied any Northwood comeback opportunities in the second half, holding them to six shots and one shot on goal. Senior goalkeeper Tyler Gleason (Grove City, OH) posted five saves in the shutout victory.

ODU will complete its GLIAC road swing through Michigan on Sunday, Sept. 12 at 2:30 p.m. as they take on the Cardinals of Saginaw Valley State University. Northwood, now 2-1, will return to action Tuesday, Sept. 14, as they travel to Alma for a non-conference matchup.
