COLUMBUS, Ohio – Freshman Ashley Sprau (Delaware, Ohio) finished with 13 kills but it wasn't enough as Ohio Dominican's volleyball team fell in three sets (25-27, 17-25, 15-25) to visiting Michigan Tech Friday night in GLIAC action at Alumni Hall.

The Panthers fell to 5-9 (1-8 GLIAC), while the Huskies improved to 3-11 (2-8 GLIAC).

Ohio Dominican's offense struggled to get on track as the Panthers hit just .087 for the match. Junior Summer Hale (Galena, Ohio) had 19 assists and 10 digs and classmate Stacy Rogg (Cincinnati, Ohio) tallied 15 digs.

ODU had several opportunities to claim a back-and-forth first set, which featured 10 ties and six lead changes. The Panthers trailed 21-18, but consecutive kills by junior Rachel Billing (Anna, Ohio) and Sprau brought them within one. Two more kills from Sprau, one from Hale and a Huskie attack error had the Panthers in front 24-23, but Michigan Tech answered with a kill of its own. Sprau's ninth kill of the set once again had ODU serving for the win, but the Huskies instead reeled off three straight points for the victory.

The Huskies raced to an 8-1 lead in the second set and never looked back as Michigan Tech led by as many as 10 points, earning a 2-0 lead in the match. In the third set, the Panthers came out with emotion and scored the first three points. The Huskies quickly responded and, with the set tied at four, went on an 8-3 run to take control. ODU drew within two at 12-10, but Michigan Tech scored five straight to close out the match.

The Panthers return to action at 2 p.m. Saturday in their Homecoming match against No. 14 Northern Michigan in Alumni Hall.
