Box Score HILLSDALE, Mich. - Ohio Dominican's volleyball team failed to win a set against the Chargers for the second time this year 3-0 (17-25, 16-25, 21-25) Saturday as they took to the road to face nationally ranked Hillsdale College in GLIAC action.
Leading the way for the Panthers (7-13, 2-10 GLIAC) was freshman Tara Winner (Versailles, Ohio) with nine kills in the match. Contributing on the day as well were junior Summer Hale (Galena, Ohio) with five kills and freshman Ashley Sprau (Delaware, Ohio) with four kills.
Setting up most of the Panther attacks, Hale also chipped in with 13 assists. Senior Elyse Mongillo (Columbiana, Ohio) had nine to finish out her day. Junior Stacy Rogg (Cincinatti, Ohio) played well defensively, totaling 12 digs to pace the Panthers.
Three consecutive attack errors in the first set by the Panthers propelled the Chargers (20-1, 14-0 GLIAC) to go on a 10-2 run in which they never looked back. In the second set, the score was tied at 13 apiece when another run - this time a 12-3 surge - would help the Chargers go on to take that set.
In the final set, in which the Panthers led most of the way, Hillsdale would take a 20-18 lead after a service ace and an ODU attack error. The Panthers tied it back up at 20 on a kill by Emily Post (St. Henry, Ohio), but that would be the last time the two teams were tied as Hillsdale closed on a 5-1 run.
Next up on the Panthers schedule will be another road game as they travel to Detroit to take on the Warriors of Wayne State and continue their six-match road trip. The game will be played at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
