Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

AURORA, Ill. – After falling in three sets against 17-9 Drury in their first match of the day, Ohio Dominican's volleyball team bounced back with a three set victory against Maryville in their second match to finish with a 1-2 record at the GLIAC/GLVC Crossover Tournament, held Friday and Saturday in Aurora, Ill.

Ohio Dominican dropped the opening matchup by counts of 21-25, 21-25, 24-26 against Drury before recording a 25-23, 25-16, 25-22 win over Maryville to move to 6-12 on the season.

Summer Hale (Galena, Ohio) tallied a match-high 12 kills to go along with 17 assists in ODU's win, while Ashley Sprau (Delaware, Ohio) and Tara Winner (Versailles, Ohio) both registered eight kills. Elyse Mongillo (Columbiana, Ohio) finished with a double-double with 24 assists and 10 digs, while Stacy Rogg (Cincinnati, Ohio) recorded a season-high 31 digs.

In the first set against Maryville, ODU opened up a big advantage but had to hold on for the victory. A block by Shannon Nadler (Leipsic, Ohio) put ODU in front 18-10, but Maryville came all the way back and cut the lead to 24-23. Sprau's kill off a feed from Mongillo closed the set, though.

Ohio Dominican led virtually wire-to-wire in the second set, as Rogg served to help the Panthers go on an 8-1 run and lead 12-5. Rogg had two aces and Emily Post (St. Henry, Ohio) three kills in that surge as ODU cruised to a nine-point victory.

The Panthers jumped to an 11-6 lead in the third set and appeared to be in control again, but Maryville rallied and tied the score at 20. Rachel Billing (Anna, Ohio) recorded two kills and Sprau again sealed the set with a kill as the Panthers scored five of the final seven points to take the win.

The Panthers hit .264 with 46 kills in 125 attempts against Maryville, while Maryville hit .179.

In the first match of the day, the Panthers had no answer for the Drury offense, which finished with a .297 attack percentage and had four players finish in double figures in kills. Winner and Billing had eight kills apiece for ODU, Mongillo tallied 14 assists and Rogg 16 digs for the Panthers.

Ohio Dominican returns to GLIAC play next weekend with a trio of matches on the road, starting at 7:30 p.m. at Findlay on Friday.
