COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican women's basketball team earned their fourth straight win on Tuesday evening as they defeated the Marauders of Central State University, 75-64 in Wilberforce, Ohio. The Panthers overcame a slim one point halftime deficit, outscoring CSU 45-33 in the second half for their 10th win of the season.
The Marauders (6-11) led by as many as 10 points in the opening half, thanks in part to a strong balanced scoring attack. Despite making two more field goals than the Panthers, CUS only led 31-30 at the halftime break.
The second half saw the Panthers turn up the defensive pressure, holding CSU to just 37% (11-of-30) from the field as they outscored the Marauders 45-33 and held on for the double digit win. ODU made an impressive 19 field goals in the second stanza on 19-of-38 shooting for 50%.
Summer Hale (Jr./Galena, OH) led the Panther attack, scoring a season-high 26 points and grabbing a team best 10 rebounds for her second straight double-double. Hale was joined by Kirsten Ruen (Sr./Columbus Grove, OH) who added 23 points and seven boards. Melissa Hersey (Jr./Cincinnati, OH) dished out four assists and grabbed seven rebounds in 29 minutes of action at the point guard position.
Central State was led by Ashley McGee who finished with a team-high 16 points; while Brooklyn Morrow added a double-double 15 points and 12 rebounds in the home loss.
ODU will return to action on Saturday, January 23rd as they welcome Marygrove College (MI) to Alumni Hall for a match-up of two Association of Independent Institution (A.I.I.) programs. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
