COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican volleyball team snapped an early season skid on Saturday afternoon in their home opener as they defeated West Liberty State University, 3-0. The Panthers had dropped back-to-back contests before earning their sixth straight set victory of the year.
Ohio Dominican got off to a quick start as they took a commanding lead in game one. West Liberty State wasn't about to go away quietly as they battled back late in the game. The Panthers were able to squeak out the first game 25-23. ODU snuck out another tight game in set two as they came from behind to earn the victory, 33-31. It was all Panthers in the third and final game as ODU cruised to a 25-12 match deciding victory.
The Panthers were led by outside hitter Rachel Billing (Jr., Anna, OH) with a team high 12 kills. ODU's Summer Hale (Jr., Galena, OH) had another superb performance as she recorded 27 assists, 11 digs and five kills. Stacy Rogg (So., Cincinnati, OH) added 10 kills and four blocks in the victory.
Ohio Dominican will return to the road as they head to Urbana, Ohio on Tuesday, September 15th to take on former AMC rivals the Urbana Blue Knights. Match time is set for 7 p.m.
