Panthers Finish 1-1 at Goshen Classic

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican women's basketball team finished 1-1 at the Goshen College Classic with a lopsided 91-58 win over Goshen College on Saturday afternoon in Goshen, Indiana. The Panthers opened their 2009-10 season with a double overtime loss to preseason No. 8 Bethel College (IN), 71-70.

Friday night's game saw the Panthers crash the offensive boards and earn 27 offensive rebounds. The Panther offense looked sharp at times but inconsistency in the final minutes of regulation and solid defensive pressure led to the Bethel Pilots earning the neutral court win.

ODU was led in scoring by Tracy Snider (So./Lancaster, OH) who recorded a game-high 24 points and grabbed eight offensive rebounds. Snider was joined in double figures by Meredith Fox (So./Springboro, OH) and Kirsten Ruen (Sr./Columbus Grove, OH) who added 16 and 11 points, respectively.

On Saturday, the Panthers wouldn't be denied a win as they took the lead in the opening minute of the game and never looked back cruising to the 91-58 win. Three Panthers finished in double figures, led by Ruen, who scored a career high 29 points on 7-of-10 shooting from beyond the arc. Katy Rasor (So./Grove City, OH) also added a career high, finishing with 21 points on the afternoon. Ruen and Rasor were joined by freshman Tenia Scarver (Fr./Xenia, OH) who added 19 points in her second collegiate game. Melissa Hersey (Jr./Cincinnati, OH) had a solid weekend at point guard finishing with 20 total helpers in two games. ODU also set a school record, connecting on 17-of-34 3-pointers made.

The Panthers return to action on Friday, November 20th when they travel to Canton, Ohio to play former AMC rival Walsh University in an early season non-conference match-up. Tip off is set for 7 p.m.
