Panthers Sweep Yellow Jackets in Season Finale

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican women's volleyball team snapped a 3-game skid with a season sweep of former American Mideast Conference rival Cedarville University on Tuesday night at the Callan Athletic Center in Cedarville, Ohio. The Panthers cruised to a 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-21) victory to conclude their regular season.

Ohio Dominican used another balanced attack to dispose of the Yellow Jackets in their annual senior night with a straight set victory. The Panthers erased a pair of four point leads in the first set to come from behind to take an early lead in the match. ODU continued to roll in the next two sets to conclude their regular season and earn their second straight 20 win season with a 22-16 overall record.

Rachel Billing (Jr./Anna, OH) led a balanced offensive attack with nine kills for the Panthers. Summer Hale (Jr./Galena, OH) added eight kills and Cassie Vome (Jr./Mason, OH) chipped in with six attacks. The Panthers combined for 22 blocks led by freshman Kristy Birkemeier (Columbus Grove, OH) with eight and Stacy Rogg (So./Cincinnati, OH) had 13 digs to lead the team.

The Panthers will now set their sites on the post season as they earned the No. 2 seed in this week's Association of Independent Institutions (AII) Championships hosted by the University of St. Thomas. ODU will open the tournament on Thursday, November 12th as they take on the winner of Southwestern College and Marygrove College in Houston, Texas.
