Panthers Even Record with Win vs. Cedarville

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican volleyball team snapped a three game losing streak with a five game victory, 3-2, over former conference rival Cedarville University. The Panthers also snapped a 0-3 skid in five game matches to even their record to 10-10 overall on the year.

Ohio Dominican looked happy to be back on their own turf after playing their last nine matches on the road. The Panthers took advantage of their home floor as they dominated the first set with a 25-19 victory. In game two it was all Yellow Jackets as they even the score to 1-1 with a 25-19 victory of their own. ODU struggled early in the third game, but battled back to edge Cedarville to take a 2-1 lead. CU answered with a comeback of their own to force a fifth and final game. It was all Panthers in the deciding game as they cruised to a 15-6 victory and their first five game set of the season.

Outside hitter Rachel Billing (Jr., Anna, OH) led three Panthers in double digit kills with 16. Shannon Nadler (Fr., Leipsic, OH) added 13 kills and Summer Hale (Jr., Galena, OH) finished the night with 10 to improve ODU's home record to 2-0.

Billing was impressive on both sides of the court as she also added a team high 25 digs. Co-Captain's Cassie Schroeder (Sr., Columbus Grove, OH) and Elyse Mongillo (Jr., Columbiana, OH; pictured) led the offense combining for 48 assists. The Panthers tallied a total of 18 blocks in the victory.

Ohio Dominican returns to action on Thursday, October 8 as they conclude a short 2-game home stand versus future Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference foe Lake Erie College. Game time is set for 7 p.m. in Alumni Hall.
