COLUMBUS , Ohio – The Ohio Dominican volleyball team earned their second straight non-conference victory on Thursday night in Alumni Hall as they knocked off former conference rival Urbana University in three games.
Urbana jumped out to an early lead, but it was all Panthers as they picked up the momentum to take game one 25-21. ODU continued to roll in games two and three as they dominated the net combining for a total of 42 kills on the night. Defensively, the Panthers didn't give away much to the visiting Blue Knights as they recorded 62 digs and 13 blocks.
Leading the way for ODU was senior middle hitter Jessica Buzenski (Columbus , OH) as she finished with 12 kills and four blocks. Stacy Rogg (Mason , OH) added eight kills in the win and had a team high 16 digs, while Elyse Mongillo (Columbiana , OH; pictured) dished out a team best 19 assists.
With the win ODU improves their overall record to 9-7 on the year.
The Panthers will conclude a three game homecoming home stand this Saturday, September 27th as they welcome Daemen College (NY) to Alumni Hall for a conference showdown with the Wildcats. Game time is set for 6 p.m. on homecoming weekend.
