ROCHESTER, New York – The Ohio Dominican men's soccer team, looking to earn their second consecutive win, traveled to Rochester, New York to battle the 20th ranked Raiders of Roberts Wesleyan College on Friday afternoon. ODU found the back of the net twice in the opening half, as they held the Raider offense in check for the much needed conference victory.
The Panthers flexed their muscle early as freshman Felix Darko (Reynoldsburg, OH) scored an unassisted goal in the 10th minute to give ODU the 1-0 advantage. ODU continued on the attack as they created numerous scoring chances that were turned away by the RWC goalkeeper Brion Ehman. Darko connected in the 38th minute of the opening half on his second goal of the game to give the visitors the 2-0 lead. The Panthers held on for the final minutes of the half, and took their 2-0 lead to the break.
ODU came out looking to maintain control of the game in the second half. Senior goalkeeper Eric Pfeifer (Westerville, OH) and the Panthers defensive third turned all Raider threats away as they held on for the 2-0 shutout win.
ODU's Pfeifer recorded seven saves in a very physical contest that saw ODU move to 2-1 in the AMC.
The Panthers, return to action on Saturday, October 4th as they remain in New York to battle conference foe Houghton College. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
