Volleyball Crashes Racers Hopes of Win in Alumni Hall

COLUMBUS , Ohio – The Ohio Dominican volleyball team continues to climb up the conference standings as they defeated the University of Northwestern Ohio on Tuesday evening in straight sets.   The Panthers have won seven of their last eight matches and moved to 4th place in the AMC standings.

The Panthers and Racers traded points early in the first set, but the host was able to come away with the opening game win thanks to a solid performance at the net.   ODU took a slight advantage and ended the Racers threat with a 25-23 win giving the home team the momentum they needed.   The Panthers continued to roll in games two and three as they were able to dispose of the Racers by the score of 25-18 and 25-19.  

ODU was led by senior middle hitter Jessica Buzenski (Columbus, OH) with 14 kills and three blocks.   Stacy Rogg (Cincinnati, OH) also had a big game as she combined to finish with 12 kills and a team high 20 digs.   Sophomore outside hitter Cassie Vome (Mason, OH; pictured) added 10 kills for the Panthers in the AMC win.

ODU's Cassie Schroeder (Columbus Grove, OH) tallied a team high 24 assists, while sophomore Summer Hale (Galena, OH) chipped in with 21 assists.

UNOH was led by Amanda Francis and Roshelle Watercutter with 11 kills apiece in the loss.   Maija Francis also led the team with 19 digs for the Racers.

ODU won the battle at the net as they finish the night with a .330 hitting percentage compared to .130 for UNOH.

Ohio Dominican will look to continue their hot streak on Thursday, October 30th as they travel to Urbana , Ohio to face the Blue Knights in a non-conference match-up with their former AMC rival.   Match time is set for 7 p.m.
