Mt. Vernon Ends Panthers Wins Streak at Four Games

COLUMBUS , Ohio – The Ohio Dominican volleyball team had their four game win streak come to an end on Tuesday evening as they dropped a three game set to conference rival Mt. Vernon Nazarene University .   ODU tied their longest win streak of the season leading up to the AMC showdown with the Cougars including three conference victories.

The Panthers fell behind quickly in game one, but battled their way back versus the defending conference champs.   Mt. Vernon eventually came away with the victory in the first set, 25-20.   ODU continued to play from behind in game two battling for points, but couldn't get over the hump as they fell by the same score, 25-20.   The Panthers and Cougars traded points in the deciding game with ODU taking a slight advantage, but let it slip away by the score of 25-23.

Leading the way for ODU was middle hitter Ashley Croy (Ottawa, OH) with a game high 15 kills.   Senior Jessica Buzenski (Columbus, OH) added 12 kills and four blocks.   Defensively, ODU was led by Cassie Schroeder (Columbus Grove, OH) with 15 digs.   Schroeder also led the team with 19 assists for the Panthers.

ODU (14-10, 5-3) returns to action this Saturday, October 18th as they travel to Notre Dame College for an AMC showdown with the Falcons.   Game time is set for 1 p.m.
