COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's cross country teams head to Wilmington College to race in the JennaStrong Fall Classic on Friday, October 11.
The race takes place to honor Jenna Parlette who collapsed while leading a race and passed away three days later after she overcame many medical obstacles to become a great runner at Wilmington. This will be the 27th time Wilmington has hosted the event and the seventh time in her honor.
A year ago at this event, the men finished 24th while the women finished 27th.
The Panther men have been led by freshman Caleb Belmont (Carroll, Ohio) as he has finished atop the Panther men standings in all three races this fall. Last week at the All-Ohio Championships Belmont ran the 8K race at Cedarville in a time of 27:51.6.
Junior Keaton McNair (Pickerington, Ohio) finished the All-Ohio Championships with a time of 28:38.7 and a year ago at the JennaStrong Fall Classic, McNair ran the course in 28:47.7.
Like Belmont, freshman Paige Boehringer (Covington ,Ohio) has led the Panther women in all three races. Boehringer finished the All-Ohio Championships 5K race in a time of 26:11.2.
Sophomore Ashley Wihl (Williamsport, Ohio) finished last week's race with a time of 26:45.2 and last year at the JennaStrong Fall Classic finished with a time of 21:12.8 which was her best time of the fall.
The women's 5K race begins at 4:30 p.m. with the men's 8K race taking place at 5:15 p.m. on the campus of Wilmington.
