Cross Country Finishes Strong At National Catholic Invitational

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Ohio Dominican's cross country team competed at the National Catholic Invitational at the University of Notre Dame's Burke Golf Course on Friday.

ODU's women's squad ran in the women's 5k open and varsity meets, while the men's team competed in the men's five-mile competition.

Leading the way for the women was senior Jalyn Devereaux (Carroll, Ohio), who took 12th out of 121 runners in the Non-Division I women's 5k varsity race, finishing in 19:38.7 with an average mile time of 6:19.0. Juniors Capria Hall (Zanesville, Ohio) and Kristen Noecker (Circleville, Ohio) also competed in the 5k varsity race, with Hall recording a season-best 5k time of 21:48.4.

In the men's mile varsity race, senior Justin Carroll (Berea, Ohio) led the ODU men to a top 10 team finish with a time of 28:29.5. Senior Chad Ellis (Brook Park, Ohio) finished with the second-fastest time for the men's squad with a run of 29:12.6. Wes Pipher (Attica, Ohio), Alec Mueller (Minerva, Ohio), Draven Bass (Circleville, Ohio) and Zachary Stepp (Columbus, Ohio) also competed for the Panthers.

Junior Makaylah Downour (Carroll, Ohio) led the women in the open 5k with a run of 23:16.9

Ohio Dominican cross country will run in the All-Ohio Championships on Friday, September 29 at the Elvin R. King Cross Country Course in Cedarville, Ohio.
