COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican volleyball team suffered a 3-1 setback at home Saturday afternoon to Great Midwest opponent, Cedarville.

Despite 15 kills from sophomore Amanda Remmetter (Springfield, Ohio), the Panthers fell by a final score of 25-13, 25-18, 15-25 and 25-17. Remmetter, who had 12 of her 15 kills in the final two sets, now has double-digit kills in seven of the past 10 outings, including three of ODU's last four matches.

Logging over 30 assists for just the third time this season was sophomore Zoë Carmichael (Wooster, Ohio). Carmichael had 34 helpers in the match against the Yellow Jackets Saturday, including 14 assists in the third set.

After dropping the opening two sets, ODU kept the match alive with a 25-15 decision in the third frame. The Black & Gold recorded five consecutive points in the frame to take an 8-4 advantage. After a few rallies, the lead ballooned to eight points, as another 5-0 spurt gave ODU a 14-6 edge.

The margin would grow to as many as 10 in the set. The Panthers hit .343 in the third game, while the defense held Cedarville to a -.065 hitting mark. Remmetter paced the offense with seven kills.

Just as they did in the first set, the Yellow Jackets (14-8, 6-2 G-MAC) never trailed in the fourth frame, securing the match win with a 25-17 decision. Cedarville won the first set 25-13 and they traded eight ties and four lead changes in the second frame before ODU conceded the set at 25-18.

Defensively, senior Allie Rutter (Fostoria, Ohio) logged 21 digs. Freshman Madison Smith (Elyria, Ohio) added nine digs and was a perfect 25-for-25 in receptions. Sophomore Abbi Gillson (Canton, Ohio) and freshman Emilee Fecht (Hilliard, Ohio) each had three assisted blocks to lead the effort at the net.

The group of Fecht, Gillson and Smith combined for 20 kills in the match. Gillson led the trio with eight kills.

Ohio Dominican will break from G-MAC play next week with a pair of matches against schools from the Mountain East Conference. First up is a trip north to Urbana for a 6 p.m. contest, Tuesday, Nov. 5.
