Conference Play Begins For Volleyball As Panthers Travel To West Virginia

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's volleyball team has a busy weekend ahead as the Panthers head on the road for three conference matches on a three-city trip to West Virginia.

The weekend begins Friday with a 6 p.m. trip to Alderson Broaddus. The Panthers then continue on to Ohio Valley to take on the Fighting Scots at 1 p.m. Saturday. The trip wraps up with a match at Davis & Elkins at 2 p.m. Sunday.

The team participated in the Tony Banner Memorial Tournament last weekend at Clarion. The Panthers split their two matches on day one of the tournament, defeating Millersville in a 3-1 decision and losing to host Clarion. Saturday consisted of a tough, hard-fought loss to Concord and falling to No. 13. Gannon.

In the victory over Millersville, ODU hit .290 and tallied 60 kills. Freshman Amanda Remmetter (Springfield, Ohio) recorded 17 kills and 12 digs to record her first career double-double, while sophomore Alexis Young (Gahanna, Ohio) also recorded a double-double with 14 kills and 11 digs.

Sophomore Ashton Barr (New Castle, Ind.) tallied 38 assists and six kills, senior Rebecca Skidmore (Westerville, Ohio) hit .350 with nine kills, while freshman Tate Rybarczyk (Avon Lake, Ohio) showed a great defensive effort with a team-high 22 digs.

Now sitting at 2-6, the team is eighth in hitting percentage in the conference at .179 and is recording the sixth-highest assists and kills per set, at 10.67 and 11.59, respectively.

On an individual level, Barr is sixth in the conference in assists per set at 7.35. After her strong performance over the weekend, Remmetter has jumped up to seventh in the conference in kills per set with 3.22. Rybarczyk has moved up to sixth in the GMAC in digs per set, averaging 4.93 digs per set.

Alderson Broaddus has a 3-3 record after a 2-1 road trip last weekend. Ohio Valley is 2-4 (0-2 G-MAC) and on a four-game losing skid, with Davis & Elkins sitting at 2-3.
