COLUMBUS, Ohio – In a tightly fought match that saw 36 ties and 18 lead changes, Ohio Dominican's volleyball team picked up a 3-1 home victory over Ursuline on Friday night in G-MAC play.

The opening set saw 12 ties and eight lead changes as the Panthers quickly built an 11-4, only to have to rally late. Ursuline pulled in front 23-21 and served for the set at 24-23, but kills by Ralston and Barreto put ODU in front. The Arrows countered twice and regained the lead, but the Panthers again pulled in front at 27-26. Ursuline jumped back in front at both 28-27 and 29-28, but kills by Ralston and Young and an ace from Young finally sealed the set as ODU scored the final three points.

The second set had eight ties and four lead changes with the Panthers having to claw back from a 20-14 hole. A 7-1 burst, capped on a kill from Hoyng, evened the set 21 for the first time since it was 8-8, and tied at 23-23, an Ursuline hitting error and a Barreto kill gave the set to ODU.

The Panthers led 18-16 in the third set, but the Arrows rallied late to take it 25-21, and the fourth set was close early before ODU pulled away. Leading 15-14, the Panthers went on a 7-1 run to take control of the set, and closed the match on kills by Hoyng and Nadler.

ODU remains at home to host Lake Erie at 1 p.m. Saturday.
