Volleyball Garners Ninth Straight Academic Honor

LEXINGTON, Ky. – For a ninth consecutive year, Ohio Dominican's volleyball team was honored for its performance in the classroom as the Panthers were named American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award recipients.

The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale.

Ohio Dominican was one of just eight GLIAC and G-MAC schools to earn the award for the 2016-17 academic year. The Panthers had nine student-athletes earn GLIAC academic accolades last year, with returners Anna Ficker and Kelly Nadler picking up Academic Excellence recognition and Patricia Barreto, Jordan Jaeckin and Rebecca Skidmore being named All-Academic.

The Panthers open the 2017 season on Friday, Sept. 1 with matches against Gannon (10 a.m.) and Wayne State (2:30 p.m.) in Detroit.
