DAYTON, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican women's soccer team fell to the Walsh Cavaliers 3-0 on Saturday afternoon in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament Final.

ODU defender Cheyenne Story (Canfield, Ohio) collected her 79th  career appearance, breaking former teammate and current assistant coach Lindsey Rentzsch's previous record of 78 appearances.

The Panthers began the match on the front foot by dictating the pace of play throughout the opening moments of the contest. Senior midfielders Taylor Rankin (Dearborn, Michigan) and Madeline Reimbold (Fort Wayne, Indiana) led the way, challenging Cavalier goalkeeper Mickey McClanahan to make a pair of saves early. Walsh grabbed the lead in the 16th minute as midfielder Briana Sanborn combined with Olivia Peters to notch the first goal of the game.

ODU attempted to answer as forwards Callan Myers (Hillsboro, Ohio) and Samantha Buck (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) nearly combined for an equalizing goal in the 31st minute.

The Cavaliers extended their lead in the 32nd minute as the ball took a fortuitous bounce off Maddie Malinowski from a cross on the far side and into the back of the Panthers net to double the lead. Walsh grabbed another goal in the 58th minute as Sanborn and Peters connected again to claim a 3-0 victory.

Despite the loss the Panthers still have a chance to claim a potential at-large bid in the Division II NCAA Tournament. The selection show happens Monday, November 18 at 6 p.m. and will be streamed live on NCAA.com
