COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican women's soccer team earned a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Kentucky Wesleyan on Thursday evening inside Panther Stadium. For the second consecutive game, both teams had to deal with adverse weather conditions such as heavy wind, rain, and snow. Each made an appearance throughout the contest.
The Panthers pressured the KWC defense all night long, outshooting the visitors 22-1. Forwards Kiyha Adkins (Troy, Ohio) and Mari Silvestri (Solon, Ohio) spearheaded the Panther assault, leading the Black & Yellow with three shots each.
Defenders Cheyenne Story (Canfield, Ohio), Hannah Knobloch (Hilliard, Ohio), and Morgan Reeb (Canal Winchester, Ohio) turned in a quality performance on defense limiting Kentucky Wesleyan to just one shot all night.
Goalkeeper Cecilia Kuntz (Berlin, Germany) wasn't tested by the opposition in route to her seventh shutout of the season.
First-year player Ashley Story (Canfield, Ohio) claimed the game for the Panthers in the 89th minute scoring a goal off a rebound. The freshman forward finished a rebound generated off a shot from midfielder Taylor Rankin (Dearborn, Michigan) and carried the Panthers to victory.
ODU returns to action Saturday against Trevecca Nazarene with kickoff scheduled for 12 p.m. Fans are encouraged to arrive at 11:30 a.m. as we honor the Class of 2020 with a pre-match ceremony.
