SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The Ohio Dominican women's soccer team came back to defeat Illinois-Springfield by a final score of 2-1 Friday night at Kiwanis Stadium in Springfield.
Freshman Cecilia Kuntz (Berlin, Germany) had six saves on seven shots in her Panther debut to lead the defense in the win.
ODU found themselves down 1-0 in the 29th minute before Buck and Mari Silvestri (Solon, Ohio) found Greer in the 35th minute off a Prairie Stars turnover just before midfield. The teams then went into the locker room knotted at 1-1.
After a slow start to the half, Buck found her spot outside the box and struck a 35-yard shot over the Prairie Star goalkeeper to earn her first game-winner of the season.
The Panthers were outshot 14-12 in the game and 7-6 on shots on goal but were able to make up for the difference with two of their six finding the back of the net.
ODU will be back in action Sunday, September 8 as they travel to McKendree with kickoff set for 12 p.m. CT.
