Three Panther Soccer Players Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Teams

GREENWOOD, Ind. -- Senior Jakob Szabo (Worthington, OH), junior Lauren Pratt (West Chester, OH), and sophomore Courtney Kozak (Millersburg, OH) of the Ohio Dominican soccer teams have been named to the Academic All-District team voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Szabo, Pratt, and Kozak are now eligible to be voted on for the Academic All-America team. CoSIDA requires athletes to be starters or important players, must hold a 3.30 GPA or higher, participate in at least 50 percent of the games at the position nominated for, and be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, while being present at the university for at least one full academic year.

Szabo currently holds a 3.69 GPA majoring in Sport Management. He currently leads the team in goals and points, while tying for the team lead in assists. Szabo has recorded seven of his career 15 goals this season for ODU. His four assists and 18 points are each ranked fifth in the GLIAC.

Pratt holds a 3.98 GPA in Sport Management. To go along with her excellence in the classroom, Pratt has had a nice season scoring four goals and adding two assists. All-time, Pratt ranks in the top 10 in goals, points, and assists. So far, she has 19 goals, 11 assist and 49 points in her career.

Kozak, has the highest GPA of the three honorees with a perfect 4.0. She started the first nine matches of the season before missing the last few weeks due to injury. During the first nine matches, Kozak was a member of a defense that had given up just five goals, including five shut outs. The sophomore has started in 24 of the 25 matches she has appeared in with the Black and Gold.

Both the men's and women's teams will be at home this weekend, as the men will be honoring Szabo and the others seniors as they host Lake Erie for Senior Night at 7 p.m. on Friday.

The women will be hosting Ferris State for their annual Pink Game at 7 p.m. tonight, Thursday, October 30. The women will then conclude their regular season on Saturday at Lake Erie.
