COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Ohio Dominican women's soccer team runs their win streak to five, as they defeated GLIAC rival Northwood, 1-0.
With the win the Panthers improve to 5-2-0 overall and 2-0-0 in the GLIAC. Northwood falls to 1-4-0 overall and 0-2-0 in the conference.
The lone goal of the match came from junior Amanda Fowler (Mansfield, OH) in the 23rd minute. Overall, ODU held much of the possession as they outshot Northwood 19-4. The Panthers recorded 10 shots on goal while the Timberwolves had one of their four shots on net.
The Panthers substitutions played a key role in the goal as Fowler, scored five minutes after coming into the match. Junior Summer Bourcier (Mansfield, OH) subbed in for a corner kick, and had the assist on the cross into the box. ODU took their 1-0 lead into the break.
The second half, much like the first, as ODU had a 9-4 shot advantage in the second session. The Panthers were able to hold on, as they stay unbeaten in the GLIAC and have now won five consecutive matches.
Freshman goalkeeper Kelsey Harris (Mason, OH) charted her third shutout of the season. She now has a season goals against average of 0.59.
Ohio Dominican will be back on the pitch at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 28, as they host nationally ranked Saginaw Valley, who is also unbeaten in conference play.
