CLEVELAND, Tennessee -- The Ohio Dominican women's soccer team won their second game in a row, defeating Lee University by a score of 3-0.
The Panthers (2-2-0) were able to hand the Flames (1-3-0) their first home loss in the past three seasons.
ODU continued their hot streak offensively scoring three goals for the second straight game. Sophomore Kelly Johnson (Berea, OH) was able to net her first two goals of the season, while freshman Allison Pavlik (Cortland, OH) added the other goal for the Panthers.
The first half saw the two teams play to a scoreless draw. The Black and Gold had the slight advantage in the first half in shots, outshooting the Flames 7-6.
It did not take long for the Panthers to get on the board in the second half when Pavlik headed in a goal off a corner kick from sophomore Alexa Scardina (Cincinnati, OH) in the 47th minute.
Ten minutes later, Johnson was able to add to the Panther lead, when she took advantage of a defensive mistake inside the box by the Flames. Johnson added her second goal of the match in the 79th minute off a cross into the box from freshman Ashley Blake (Hilliard, OH).
Freshman goalkeeper Kelsey Harris (Mason, OH) was able to save all six Flame shots on target, as the Panthers shutout their second straight opponent by the score of 3-0.
The Panthers ended the game with 15 total shots, nine coming on goal. Sophomore Madison Baldwin (Zanesville, OH) and junior Amanda Fodor (Hilliard, OH) led the attacking for ODU with three shots each. Blake and Johnson are now tied for the team lead in points with four each on the young season.
Ohio Dominican will look to continue their strong play when they welcome Alderson-Broaddus on Tuesday, September 16. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Panther Stadium.
