COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican women's soccer team ran out of gas, as they lost 1-0 to Southern Indiana in overtime.
The Panthers now fall to 0-2-0 on the season while the Screaming Eagles improve to 1-1-0. ODU hosted an invitational this weekend which also included Tusculum College and Ashland University.
The Black and Gold dropped both games this weekend, losing each by one goal.
The Panthers and Screaming Eagles played pretty evenly throughout as each team had their chances, with both teams controlling possession about the same amount. ODU held a 23-10 shot advantage for the game, but could not find the back of the net.
In regulation, the Panthers had the best opportunity at a goal on a shot from senior Jordan Mazzi (Galena, OH) who hit the left post from 25 yards away. With no scoring in regulation, the game went to overtime where USI was able to score with just over four minutes remaining. The Screaming Eagles scored on a header from Maggie Pike off a corner kick entry from Maura Hulme.
Two freshmen led the Panthers in shots, with Allison Pavlik (Cortland, OH) recording five and Ashley Blake (Hilliard, OH) recording four. Each also led the team in shots on goal with two. Junior Lauren Pratt (West Chester, OH) also had two shots on goal, and recorded three total shots.
ODU will look to rebound from the loss when they travel to Cedarville on Wednesday. Kick-off for the match is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
