Perry Earns Second Capital One Academic All-America Honors

TOWSON, Md. – On Wednesday, Ohio Dominican senior defender Shara Perry (Hilliard, Ohio) was named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-America NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Second Team, as voted upon by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The award is her second.

A double major in exercise science and biology with a 3.96 G.P.A., Perry finished her career with one goal and three assists. She helped the Panthers to a 10-6-3 record, including a 6-4-3 mark in GLIAC play in 2012. Perry also helped the Panthers post 11 shutouts on the season. She was a first team Daktronics all-Midwest Region selection in 2011.

Perry joins Grand Valley's Chelsea Parise and Michigan Tech's Melanie Hoffman as the only GLIAC schools to earn such honors.

To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
