COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio Dominican junior defender Shara Perry (Hilliard, OH) was recently recognized for her work in the classroom as a women's soccer 2011 Capital One Academic All-District 4 First Team selection, announced yesterday by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Along with solidifying a stifling Panthers backfield that shutout 10 of its 19 opponents, including eight of its last nine and ranked second in the conference in several key defensive categories, Perry has maintained a 4.0 cumulative GPA in biology/exercise science in her time at Ohio Dominican. She was one of just four GLIAC student-athletes to receive the honor.
To be eligible for the Capital One Academic All-District Team, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his or her current institution.
ODU's season came to an unfortunate close Friday evening in the GLIAC Tournament Semifinals as the South Division champs were eliminated 4-3 in a penalty kick shootout to rival Ashland.
