COLUMBUS, Ohio – Due to possible weather issues this weekend, Ohio Dominican's softball team will be playing Ashland on Wednesday and Walsh on Thursday at Panther Field. The games with Malone scheduled for Monday, April 22 will remain as scheduled.
The doubleheader with Ashland is scheduled for 3 and 5 p.m., while the Walsh and Malone series are scheduled for 2 and 4 p.m.
Earlier in the season, the Panthers and Eagles split a doubleheader here at Panther Field with Ashland taking game one 4-2 and the ODU grabbing game two 6-5.
Both teams were unable to come back from their deficits late in the games as ODU scored their runs in the sixth and seventh innings of game one and Ashland scored three in the bottom half of the seventh in game two.
ODU is still sitting atop the conference standings coming into the week with a 15-3 record in the G-MAC and 25-17 overall after dropping three of four at Kentucky Wesleyan and Trevecca Nazarene this past weekend.
Walsh is 5-15 in the conference and 9-33 overall while Malone comes into the week at 17-13 overall and 9-9 in the conference traveling to Ohio Valley on Saturday.
Senior Kelly Mix (Baltimore, Ohio) leads the Panther offense as she is hitting .404 on the season and .500 in conference play. She is fourth in the conference in slugging percentage at .675 as she has 20 extra base hits this spring including four home runs and a team leading 13 doubles.
Junior Landry Slider (Stow, Ohio) is hitting .384 overall and .415 in the G-MAC this season as she is second on the team with 32 RBI's and 12 doubles.
Fellow junior Cameron Barber (Powell, Ohio) is hitting .342 overall with an on-base percentage of .434 as she has six homers and nine doubles with 12 games remaining in the spring. In the circle, Barber's 97 strikeouts this season puts her fourth in the conference and she has a 6:1 strikeout to walk ratio this in her 106.1 innings pitched.
Freshman Sydney Long (Ashland, Ohio) leads the pitching staff with 12 complete games this season and her 2.72 ERA is sits eighth in the conference. She is 11-4 with one save on the year as she has struck out 86 opposing hitters this season.
