COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's softball team begins conference play this week as they play host to Cedarville and Findlay on Tuesday and Wednesday at 3 and 5 p.m. before traveling to Hillsdale and Tiffin Saturday and Sunday.
ODU is coming off a 5-3 week and are 9-13 overall heading into the conference season where they are projected to finish second in the coaches' poll and a year ago finished 18-6.
Over the last week, junior Landry Slider (Stow, Ohio) led the Panther offense hitting .462 with 12 hits in 26 plate appearances. That includes three doubles and eight RBI's in that week. Slider is leading the Panther offense on the season hitting .353 with a team leading 18 RBI's which is also fourth in the conference.
In that same stretch, junior Cameron Barber (Powell, Ohio) hit .391 with three home runs and eight RBI's while senior Kelly Mix (Baltimore, Ohio) has hit .370 with 10 hits and five RBI's. Junior Taylor Farmer (Mt. Blanchard, Ohio) found her stroke at the plate hitting .364 over the week and .545 in the last four games with six hits in 11 at-bats. Farmer also had two home runs with four RBI's in those four games. Carson Hackerd (Frankfort, Indiana) also found her stroke at the plate as well as over the last four games, she has hit .533 with eight hits in her 15 plate appearances. That includes three doubles, a triple and a home run along with six RBI's.
Over the last week in the circle, freshman Sydney Long (Ashland, Ohio) has led the Panthers posting a 2-1 record with a 1.84 ERA where she gave up just five earned runs in 19 innings pitched. Barber led the Panther pitching staff with three wins on the week posting a 3-1 record with a 3.40 ERA. Barber also had 22 strikeouts and just two walks in her 22.2 innings pitched.
