BAY CITY, Mich. - Ohio Dominican's softball team was recently tabbed fourth in the South Division of the 2012 GLIAC Coaches' Preseason Poll, announced yesterday by the league office.

The Panthers, with eight letterwinners back and 15 newcomers, received 11 points and tied Findlay for the fourth slot in the South Division. Tiffin, the GLIAC regular season and tournament champions a year ago, narrowly edged out Ashland for first with 23 points and four first-place votes. The Eagles collected 22 points and two first-place nods and Wayne State (Mich.) took third with 18 points, while Lake Erie rounded out the poll in sixth with five points.
In the North Division, NCAA Tournament participant and NFCA preseason No. 18 Grand Valley State (Mich.) garnered four first-place votes and 24 points to just beat out NCAA Tournament Semi-finalist and preseason No. 4 Saginaw Valley State (Mich.) for the top slot.
ODU opens the season in just over two weeks at the UAH Ringor Charger Chillout in Decatur, Alabama, beginning with an Opening Day bout against preseason third-ranked North Georgia on Friday, Feb. 17.
