CEDARVILLE, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's men's soccer team opened the Great Midwest Athletic Conference schedule with a 1-1 draw at Cedarville Wednesday night.
With the draw, ODU is 1-2-1 overall and 0-0-1 in the G-MAC while Cedarville is now 2-0-2 overall and 0-0-1 in the conference.
The Panthers had five shots on goal to Cedarville's three in the first half but the Jackets were able to score to take a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute where the teams went into the locker room at the half.
After a slow start to the second half, ODU was able to get the offense moving in the right direction as they were able to tie that game at 1-1 in the 63rd minute. Sophomore Carter Patchett (Dublin, Ohio) scored his first goal of the year on assists from freshman Alex Larzelere (Hilliard, Ohio) and junior River Allbaugh (Pickerington, Ohio).
ODU was able to maintain the tie and headed into overtime where ODU was outshot 2-to-1 with no shots on goal for either squad. After 100 minutes, the teams went into the second overtime where once again no shot was recorded on goal and the game ended in the draw.
Junior goalkeeper Ian Crook (Cincinnati, Ohio) faced three shots on goal recording two saves before picking up a red card on a hand ball outside the box in the 88th minute. Sophomore Aiden Genette (Macomb, Mich.) took over and played the final 22 minutes where he faced one shot on goal recording his lone save.
The Panthers continue G-MAC play as they travel to Walsh on Saturday, September 21 with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m.
