COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican men's soccer team hits the road this week and will look to keep its GLIAC tournament hopes alive as they face Malone and Walsh.
The Panthers dropped their first game 4-3 against Northwood before falling to Saginaw Valley, 4-1 on Sunday.
Against Northwood, goals were scored by sophomore Michael Fragoulis (Chios Greece), senior Jakob Szabo (Worthington, OH) and sophomore Andrew Schwall (Gahanna, OH). The Timberwolves controlled possession in the second half scoring three unanswered goals in less than five minutes to defeat the Panthers.
Against Saginaw Valley, ODU fell behind early, allowing three goals in the first 45 minute period. Sophomore Tanner Ebright (Pickerington, OH) found the back of the net off a pass from Szabo to score the lone Panther goal. It was a physical match as five yellow cards were issued to go along with 29 fouls.
Ebright is currently tied for third in the GLIAC with four assists. Szabo continues to score as he ranks third in the GLIAC with 16 points and fourth in goals with six. Szabo is also tied with Ebright for the team lead in assists. Junior Justin Alexander (Reynoldsburg, OH) has been a strength of the Panther defense with 53 saves which is good for fourth in the GLIAC.
Junior Brent Wahle (Pataskala, OH) ranks tied for 29th nationally in game winnings goals with three on the season.
Malone (Friday, October 24)
The Panthers are 10-14 all-time against the Pioneers. ODU is 4-1 in its last five matches against Malone, and is riding a four match winning streak against the Pioneers. The Panthers defeated Malone 3-1 earlier in the season at Panther Stadium which saw Ebright score his first goal of the season.
Malone (1-11-1, 0-10-1 GLIAC) has struggled this season after its only win coming in the season opener against Ohio Valley. The Pioneers are led by senior Matt Akindipe with three goals. Malone is averaging 12 shots a game on the season.
The match is scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
Walsh (Sunday, October 26)
The all-time series record between Walsh and ODU is currently at 17-11 in favor of Walsh. The Panthers are 4-0-1 in their last five matches against the Cavaliers (5-8-0, 3-8-0 GLIAC).

Walsh started the season at 3-0 before losing eight of its last ten. Senior Sam Mountstephens leads Walsh with seven goals, two being game winners.
The Panthers and Cavaliers will kick off at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
