Men's Soccer Falls in Overtime to Malone, 2-1

CANTON, Ohio -- The Ohio Dominican men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 overtime match to GLIAC foe Malone on Friday.

With the loss, the Panthers fall to 7-8-0 overall and 5-7-0 in the GLIAC. Malone improves to 2-11-1 overall and 1-10-1 in the conference with the win.

ODU jumped out to a lead in the first half as senior Jakob Szabo (Worthington, OH) scored off an assist from junior Brent Wahle (Pataskala, OH). The Panthers took a 1-0 lead into the break.

The Pioneers added a goal in the 67th minute to tie the match 1-1. Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the remainder of regulation as the two teams headed to overtime.

At 107:06 Malone was able to score the game winner on a shot to the lower left corner of the goal.

ODU outshot Malone 17-16 for the match, while holding a 10-9 advantage in shots on goal. Szabo led the Panthers with nine shots. Freshman Stephen Burgin (Sunbury, OH) added three shots.

The Panthers will try to bounce back on Sunday. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. against Walsh.
